Born from a Vision of Empowerment in 2020
The Ladybug House sprouted in 2020, during a time of social isolation. Recognizing the impact of colorism on young Black girls, we were determined to address it head-on. Our inaugural event, a whimsical Alice in Wonderland-themed High Tea, brought together 20 special young ladies ages 8-16. This gathering wasn't just about tea and treats; it was about opening a dialogue about colorism and its effects. We witnessed firsthand the power of open conversation and the need for a safe space for Brown girls to embrace their unique beauty.
More Than Just a High Tea Party: A Community for Brown Girl Magic
The overwhelmingly positive response from that first event fueled our passion. The Ladybug House is now a thriving community dedicated to empowering young Black women of all shades. We offer a variety of programs and events that go beyond addressing colorism. We foster open communication, celebrate diversity, and equip girls with the tools they need to navigate adolescence and become confident leaders.
